Ask the chat to save, change or remove things

  • Ask the chat to save your test results and it puts them on one card to confirm, each at the time you tested, not the time you typed it.
  • The chat can now change what's already saved: fix a test result you typed wrong, change a fish's count or name, remove a fish that died, edit or delete a note, move or delete a reminder, or mark one done. The card shows exactly what will change, old to new, and nothing changes until you confirm.
  • Logging a test yourself? Set "Test taken" to when you actually tested, instead of it counting as right now.
  • Tests you type into Apex Fusion's measurement log now come into ReefGPT with your next sync, at the time you took them.
  • The chat now knows exactly what it can and can't do. Ask for something it can't, like texting you or changing a setting, and it says so plainly instead of saying it will. If a reply ever says something was saved when it wasn't, the reply now says so.
  • Questions that mix your tank with a question about ReefGPT, like "what size is my tank, and can you text me?", now get both halves answered.

Dosing advice that fits how you dose

  • Using an Apex DOS? The chat now looks at what each head has actually dosed over the last two weeks, not just today. If you run a head for a few days and switch it off for a day or two, its advice is sized from what the tank really got, and it may suggest a steady daily dose to stop the swing.
  • New dosing type: Calcium + magnesium (one part), for bottles like ATI Essentials Pro 2. The chat knows a bottle like this raises both together.

The chat knows what you dose

  • Ask about falling or rising alkalinity, calcium, magnesium or nutrients and the chat now sees what you dose each day, and can suggest a new daily amount, like 10 mL a day to about 11. Changes come in small steps, with a retest after a couple of days.
  • Your tank notes now reach the chat when they match your question, word for word. Keep your PAR readings in a note and ask where a coral should go, or ask the chat to check your notes.
  • Your tank's length, width and height now save, from Settings or from the chat.
  • The chat knows more about Sohal and Clown Tangs, and how to tell a shrimp's or hermit's molt from a dead one.

Better answers to hard "why" questions

  • Ask why something is going wrong, like corals losing their heads or a fish covered in spots, and the chat now lists the likely causes, most likely first, with how to tell each one apart. Before, it could name one cause with more confidence than the evidence allowed.
  • Follow-ups like "why that?", "why not ich?" or "what if this doesn't work?" now build on the earlier answer. The chat only changes its mind when it says why.
  • Test results you type into a question are now the ones the chat uses, checked against ReefGPT's ideal ranges.
  • Asking about a friend's tank? Say so, and the chat won't use your own tank's readings or suggest changes to your tank.
  • Treatment figures, like how low to take salinity and for how long, now come from ReefGPT's reef-keeping knowledge base rather than the AI's general recall.
  • Fixed a rare glitch where a block of code-like text appeared at the end of a chat reply.

The chat remembers your tank's size

  • Tell the chat how big your tank is and it now offers to save it, in gallons, litres or length × width × height. Nothing is saved until you confirm, and once it's saved you won't be asked again.
  • Settings now has boxes for your tank's length, width and height beside its volume. For fish like tangs, length matters as much as gallons.
  • Fixed the chat sometimes ignoring you when you described your tank by its make and model, and replying with a note about what ReefGPT can't do instead.

The chat knows your equipment

  • Ask about your protein skimmer or light and the chat now uses its published rating, like the tank size a skimmer is rated for or a light's wattage. Put the exact make and model in the equipment's Make / Model field. The rating is looked up once in the background, so the first answer may say it's still being looked up.
  • The chat says how sure it is: confirmed when two websites agree, unconfirmed when it found only one listing. A rating is used for filtration and lighting questions, never to change advice about which fish your tank can hold.
  • Questions about adding a fish now take your tank's dimensions and the livestock already in it into account, not just its gallons.
  • The chat no longer asks you to retest a probe your Apex has just synced.
  • Weekly summaries now arrive every week. Before this, some accounts only got one every other week.

More reliable loading

  • Fixed an intermittent problem where parts of the app, like your livestock list, notes, chat history or calendar, sometimes failed to load and needed a refresh.

A new website

  • A rebuilt reefgpt.net, with its own pages for how the grading works, the chat, a tour of the app played through on a phone, and a FAQ.
  • The FAQ now covers pricing and what ReefGPT can't do yet. The old Pricing and Limitations pages point there.

ReefGPT early access begins

  • Neptune Apex telemetry sync — connect your controller read-only by serial number, no password shared. Every probe your Apex reports shows up as its own card, including quarantine and reactor probes, and only one probe per parameter is ever graded so a second instrument on the same water can't skew your score.
  • Tank grading engine — Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium, pH, Temperature, Salinity, Nitrate, Phosphate and ORP are each graded on level, daily swing, weekly drift, how stale the reading is, and recovery after a spike. One overall tank status, plus a confidence indicator and a sensitivity setting from 1 to 5.
  • AI chat assistant — answers are grounded in your own tank's data and a curated reef-keeping knowledge base, not general recall. It's view-only: it can propose a reminder or a livestock entry, but nothing is saved until you confirm it.
  • Dosing tracking — log doses by hand or auto-import from a Neptune DOS. Once there's about a week of history, ReefGPT learns each head's normal daily volume and flags one that's suddenly dosing much more or less than usual. You can also set your own hard limits per head.
  • Reef care calendar — recurring maintenance reminders (water changes, filter socks, calibration) that show up in the app's notification bell. No push, text or email reminders — you have to open the app.
  • Livestock and equipment records, an event timeline, and photo galleries you can pin to your dashboard.
  • A fully customizable, drag-and-drop dashboard.
  • Works without an Apex — every water parameter can be logged by hand.
  • Free during early access.
